To give or to give, that is the question

Just as there are many species of trees, there are countless ways to give.

If anybody understands that, Friends of Trees does. This is how we break down our giving options:

1) Cash: most want it; some have it; we need it. Whether one dollar or $1,000, individual giving allows us to act out our mission statement.

2) In-kind donations of time and services. Just as valuable as cash, sometimes more valuable, these gifts manifest themselves with a line of planted trees, or clean shovels, or an organized filing system or even a redesigned Web site, for example.

3) Currently, Friends of Trees is encouraging financial givers to apply their generosity towards Willamette Week’s Give!Guide, which makes us eligible for a matching gift if we win our environmental category and also provides donors of $25 or more prize incentives.

4) Another avenue that starts today is CafeGive, an online retailer redirect that allows virtual shoppers to make their purchases at Best Buy, Macy’s, or dozens of other retailers on behalf of Friends of Trees. For every purchase made via this site, Friends of Trees will receive a small, varying percentage. Take a look around the site and think of us when making your next purchase at Dean & Deluca, Brooks Brothers, iTunes, Travelocity …

5) If it has a motor, Friends of Trees can take it off your hands and provide a tax-deduction that will hopefully benefit both parties. If that clunker is on its way out, think of Friends of Trees for your vehicle or boat donation.
