Thank you, Jack Johnson, from Garry Oak and FOT
Adding to his growing collection of photos with celebrities, Garry Oak joined Jack Johnson and Friends of Trees staffers Logan Lauvray and Kris Day at Jack Johnson’s concert this month in Ridgefield, Washington.
The day was a blast, with great music (of course) and lots of tree hugging. Garry and his handlers met hundreds of people who came through the Village Green, an area where five local environmental nonprofits offered people a chance to change the world, one person at a time.
The idea behind Jack Johnson’s All At Once campaign is that significant change can happen when each person does one thing, if everyone acts “all at once.”
At Friends of Trees’ booth, people could choose one of three actions: sign up to volunteer or learn more about Friends of Trees; answer fun tree questions; or have their picture taken with Garry Oak for their Facebook page.
Once they took action, Friends of Trees stamped their concert “passport” so they could qualify for the chance to sit on stage during the Jack Johnson concert. University of Portland student Lacy Hall, who received a stamp of approval from Friends of Trees, was a winner!
Friends of Trees is grateful to Jack Johnson and the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation for donating $3,000 to Friends of Trees as part of its All At Once campaign. We also appreciate all the Friends of Trees supporters who gave to us as part of the foundation’s match.
We sincerely appreciate the chance to join this great awareness-building campaign–and the opportunity to meet Jack Johnson and hear a great concert, too!
