Treeverse, a film experience you don’t want to miss

TreeverseBy Brighton West

Want to see your name on the big screen?

Friends of Trees is partnering with Ascending the Giants, a group dedicated to ascending and documenting all aspects of champion trees, on a new short film called Treeverse.

Treeverse will follow arborists Brian French and Will Koomjian of Ascending the Giants on an unparalleled adventure as they attempt a pioneering effort to navigate a one-kilometer transect through the forest canopy over five days.

Uncage the Soul Video Production is one of the leading nature/adventure video production firms in the Northwest, and Friends of Trees is excited to be part of this project. Uncage the Soul’s film “Ascending the Giants” and the Ascending the Giants team were awarded the official 2009 Leave No Trace award.

So how do you get your name in the film? Funds are being raised through “crowd sourcing,” by having lots of folks give a small amount through Kickstarter. The goal is to raise at least $10,000. Benefits are provided for every level of giving, including being named in the film if you donate $100 or more. The film will premier this summer.
