Portland Timbers players Sal Zizzo and Brent Richards and mascot Timber Joey will join Friends of Trees volunteers at this Saturday’s planting in Happy Valley. The planting is part of the club’s “Score a Goal, Plant a Tree” program, presented by JELD-WEN Windows & Doors through Friends of Trees’ pillar partnership with the club.

The March 30 planting begins with registration and breakfast treats at 8:45 am, followed by tree planting from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Volunteer planters will meet at Bella Casa, 15241 SE Chelsea Morning Drive, in Happy Valley. Friends of Trees’ online calendar provides a map and other details. All are welcome, and no planting experience is required. Just dress in planting clothes and sturdy shoes, and join us! If you’re a Portland Timbers fan, you’ll even have a chance to plant with Timbers players and Timber Joey! Sal Zizzo, Brent Richards, and Timber Joey will plant trees from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m.

Saturday’s planting is one of Friends of Trees’ volunteer restoration events along the banks of Rock Creek planned with SOLVE and the Clackamas River Basin Council as part of the Rock Creek Partnership.  The Rock Creek Partnership receives funding from Clackamas County Water Environment Services, on behalf of Clackamas Service District No. 1.

The Portland Timbers are also generously supporting the March 30 planting as Friends of Trees event sponsors.
