Thank you, Whole Foods Market & 3,163 bag-free customers

Garry Oak visits Whole Foods Market Tanasbourne on Jan. 18, 2011
Garry Oak and Erin Rosvold, Marketing & Community Relations Specialist at Whole Foods Market, Tanasbourne (Emma Gray)

Many thanks to Whole Foods Market, Tanasbourne, and the 3,163 customers who gave to Friends of Trees each time they used their own bags instead of plastic between October 1, 2010, and January 16, 2011.

Through the store’s bag donations program, Whole Foods Market collected $316.30 for Friends of Trees!

Friends of Trees’ mascot, Garry Oak, visited Whole Foods Market on January 18 to thank shoppers and staff. He even took a break from shopping to attend story time as Friends of Trees’ Emma Gray read We Planted a Tree to young shoppers.

Garry’s visit to Whole Foods Market was part of a Westside Tour that included visits to REI at the Streets of Tanasbourne, Solar World, and the corporate headquarters of Columbia Sportswear.

You don’t have to shop without a plastic bag to give to Friends of Trees. Your support makes it possible for us to continue adding green and the good things that grow on trees to Portland’s neighborhoods and green spaces. Giving your valentine a Gift Tree is also a great way to make a tax-deductible donation to Friends of Trees.
