The tents are going up, the desk spaces have been cleared, and yes, the tools and trees are ready to be planted.

Tomorrow’s Neighborhood Trees (NT) planting for the Boise, Eliot, Humboldt and King neighborhoods is special for a number of reasons, but reason No. 1: only once a year is a planting hosted at the Friends of Trees office at 3117 NE ML King Jr. Blvd.

This gives our volunteers an opportunity to see our workspace and tour our lots, getting a real grasp of what it takes to plant thousands of trees and shrubs every year.

We’re shooting for 178 street and yard trees tomorrow.

So come by before the festivities start at 9 a.m. Grab some coffee and doughnuts, talk to neighbors, meet our new mascot and get your Valentine’s Weekend off to a great start!

A potluck lunch will also be served on site after the planting.

And as always, all are welcome, just be sure to dress for the weather.
