Parks planting event Saturday; can you dig?
Tree seedlings, tree plantings, tree awards, tree advice … all of it is happening this Saturday at Dig-It.
The Portland Parks & Recreation event, with Friends of Trees and Bureau of Environmental Services, runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Mt. Tabor Middle School and is the city-wide start of fall planting season.
While the Green Space Initiative planting season began Oct. 10 and the Neighborhood Trees program begins Nov. 7 (see count down, right), rest assured, any time trees are being planted in Portland, Friends of Trees will be there.
Come for the festivities, say hello to some staffers, and stay to help plant 28 trees on school grounds.
For more information, call 503-823-1650 or visit the Dig-It Web site.
