Effort hopes to plant a tree for every Oregonian
A small environmental group consisting of students down the Willamette Valley has the statewide goal to plant one tree for every Oregonian, reports the Statesman Journal in Salem.
And they want to finish by 2012.
That is about 3,790,060 trees.
The project is called One4One and is connected with the Caretakers of the Environment International, which has an Oregon chapter that partners with programs from Oregon State University.
The overall goal of the program is to improve local communities through environmental service.
