Crew leader trainings return this month!
By Andrew Land
With 2011 now underway and our 400,000th tree already in the ground, we’re forging ahead with the busiest part this season’s planting schedule still to come. For the second year in a row, we will hold winter crew leader trainings in late January for those who have enjoyed our plantings or are looking for a leadership opportunity to pour their positive energy into our local parks and natural areas.
Check out some of the best reasons to become a crew leader:
- Great way to meet people
- Plant trees with your bike
- Beautify Portland’s neighborhoods & green spaces
- Promote environmental & health benefits of trees
- Build a stronger community
- Unofficial sixth reason: free coffee & donuts!

- THIS TRAINING IS FULL!
GREEN SPACE INITIATIVE
Green Space crew leaders guide small groups of volunteers at weekend plantings to restore green spaces in the Portland-Vancouver metro area. Our winter GSI crew leader training will take place:
- Saturday, Jan. 29, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Brown’s Ferry Park, 5485 SW Nyberg Lane, Tualatin
We ask that newly trained crew leaders commit to helping with at least three plantings between now and the last planting of the season in April. We couldn’t do our good work without the help of volunteers, and crew leaders are among our most supportive. Please come join us to keep the Portland-Vancouver area green!
