Arborists from across the world come to Portland August 11-12

This year’s biggest world-wide tree event is happening right here in Portland, Oregon, on August 11 and 12, at Laurelhurst Park!
Watch the greatest climbers in the world as they compete in the International Tree Climbing Championship to earn the title of World Champion. Browse interactive educational displays and crafts by local artisans. And don’t forget to get out and climb a tree at the ISA’s recreational “Fun Climb.”
Saturday, August 11

- 10:00 am – Laurelhurst History and Tree ID Walk with Phyllis Reynolds, author Trees of Greater Portland
- 11:00 am – Good Street and Yard Trees for Homeowners with Jim Gersbach
- 12:00 pm – Six Ways to Kill Your Trees (Not) with Cass Turnbull of Plant Amnesty
- 1:00 pm – Intro to Urban Fruit Tree Care with Bob Hatton of Portland Fruit Tree Project
- 2:00 pm – Why Hire an Arborist (Tree Doctor) and Questions to Ask with Jesse Batty of Friends of Trees
10:00 am to 2:00 pm: Recreational Fun Climb for people of all ages and abilities
2:00 pm: Professor Pricklethorn will tell kids why trees are important, why and how we should plant trees, and what you can do to help trees.
8:00 am – 5:00 pm: Masters’ Challenge Qualifying Events
