Another great weekend of planting!

Freinds of Trees’ Green Space Initiative Specialist Keith Nevison said it well when he e-mailed crew leaders to thank them for their help at the Trillium Creek Primary School in West Linn on Saturday:

“We had a very successful planting (mostly sunny!), with assistance from over 50 volunteers,” he wrote. “With your help, we were able to get 635 trees, shrubs, and bulbs in the ground with smiles abounding!”

Friends of Trees thanks all of the volunteers and planting partners who made the planting possible, including Trillium Creek Primary School and Clackamas County Soil & Water Conservation District. The slide show below was made at Saturday’s planting.

At our Buckman, Hosford-Abernethy, Richmond neighborhood planting on the same day, more than a hundred volunteers planted 91 of the nearly 100 trees being added to those neighborhoods this year. We were excited to have Mayor Sam Adams join us for the planting. Thank you to all the homeowners who added trees to their planting strips or yards, and to Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services for its generous support for our Plant It Portland! campaign through its Grey to Green Initiative. Check out the slide show below for photos from the event:

We were also thrilled to have 66 volunteers help us plant 57 trees in Eugene neighborhoods on Saturday. “Alpha Chi Omega sorority, women student athletes from the UO, boy scouts Troop 61, homeowners, neighbors, and other FOT volunteers” helped, according to Friends of Trees Eugene Director Erik Burke.

This morning, Friends of Trees volunteers also planted native trees and shrubs at King City Park, at a weekday event we hosted in partnership with Clean Water Services. The planting will contribute to the health of the Tualatin River.

Thank you to all who planted with us this morning, too!
