We’re leaping for the Lorax this weekend!

Our Plant It Portland! campaign is getting even more whimsical this weekend.

On Saturday, March 3, Friends of Trees is partnering with event sponsors Whole Foods Market and Portland General Electric to plant trees on the opening weekend of “The Lorax” movie.

Many planting volunteers will don the fuzzy, orange mustaches made famous by Dr. Seuss’s character, the Lorax, who spoke for the trees. The planting in the Montavilla and Mt. Tabor neighborhoods will kick off with “Treevia” questions about “The Lorax,” and winners will walk away with pairs of tickets to see the film.

You can join the Lorax fun at our neighborhood planting by arriving at Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church, 5441 SE Belmont Street, by 8:45 am for “Treevia” questions and breakfast treats. Or join our SE Portland Green Space Initiative plantings, which also begin at 8:45 am. They’re at Clatsop Butte, SE Evergreen Way and SE 156th Avenue, and at Errol Heights, SE 45th Avenue and SE Tenino Drive.

Both Green Space Initiative plantings are a part of the annual Johnson Creek Watershed Wide event and are hosted in partnership with Johnson Creek Watershed Council, East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District, and Portland Parks & Recreation.
