Friends of Trees was thrilled to receive five handsome trees as a donation from J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. on September 16. The trees spent the day at 815 SW 2nd Avenue as part of MIG, Inc.’s 2011 PARK(ing) Day “park.”

Many thanks to Dave Walters, Senior Landscape Architect of MIG, Inc., and to Nancy Buley, Director of Communications at J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co., who arranged for Friends of Trees to receive the trees at the close of PARK(ing) Day. Dave is trustee for the Oregon Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), and Nancy is a board member of Friends of Trees who advocates for trees in Washington D.C. and elsewhere.

MIG, Inc. is a woman-owned company based in Berkeley, California, with branches in Pasadena, Fullerton, and Davis, CA; in Eugene and Portland, OR; and in Raleigh, NC. MIG focuses on planning, designing, and sustaining environments that support human development.

Last year Friends of Trees was featured in a Portland Tribune video about PARK(ing) Day 2010 in Portland, which was sponsored by The Intertwine Alliance.
