Meet William Hurt and Zach Gilford tonight at premiere of “The River Why”

The world premiere of “The River Why” is tonight at 7:00 pm at Portland’s Hollywood Theater, 4122 NE Sandy Blvd. Actors William Hurt and Zach Gilford will join producer Kristi Denton Cohen for the showing and answer questions after the movie. You can still buy tickets online.

Based on David James Duncan’s novel “The River Why,” the movie follows the adventures of Gus, played by Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen on “Friday Night Lights”), who leaves his family home in Portland to live alone along a river in the Oregon Coastal Range. While there, he spends his days fly fishing, meeting new people, and learning about himself.

Tonight’s world premiere is sponsored by River Network and Peloton Productions. The $20 cost per ticket includes admission to the film and a complimentary raffle ticket for prizes from Osprey Packs, Patagonia, KEEN, Rio, Innate Gear, ClifBar, and Sage Fly Fishing. It also includes a donation to the River Network. As part of the screening, people are encouraged to join the Clackamas River Cleanup on Sunday, September 11.

River Network’s watershed protection movement includes more than 2,500 state, regional, and local grassroots organizations. Its headquarters are in Portland, Oregon.
