Take the OEC ‘Love Your River’ challenge – Plant a tree with us!

Planting a tree helps clean our rivers (Chijo Takeda)

Take the Oregon Environmental Council’s “Love Your River” challenge by planting a tree or two with us! You might win an REI Half Dome 2 Tent and a NW Nature Guide. We have multiple plantings scheduled in the Portland-Vancouver area and in Eugene and Springfield this weekend and during the coming weeks.

In addition, in many Portland and Vancouver neighborhoods, you have time to order a tree for your home at a bargain price that includes delivery, hole digging, planting assistance, and summer check-ups.

Here’s great information from OEC’s web site: Did you know that trees help protect rivers, and that winter is one of the best times to plant them? Plant a tree today, and you will make a lasting impact on the health of nearby rivers. Trees absorb rain and keep it from running into streets where it gets polluted. They also prevent erosion, capture greenhouse gases, shade your home in the summer, and increase property values.

Thank you, OEC, for doing so much to clean our rivers. And thank you to all who meet the “Plant a Tree” challenge!
