To celebrate 2011, our first weekend of planting will feature the 400,000th tree ever planted by Friends of Trees during our 21-year history. Come join us to help make it happen!

The special tree will be planted at our I-205 Multi-Use Path planting event, and it will be a native Oregon White Oak. Our partners in greening the path, Metro and the Oregon Department of Transportation, will join us in commemorating the tree’s new home with a plaque.

Here are the details for both of our planting events this weekend:

  • Green Space Initiative:  I-205 Multi-Use Path planting (10600 NE Holman Street) in Portland, where we will be planting 130 native trees, including Cascaras, Oregon White Oaks, and Douglas Maples
  • Neighborhood Trees:  SW Conestoga Drive and SW Robbins Drive in Beaverton where we will be planting Tricolor Beech and Flowering Ash trees

If you’d like to volunteer with us, please arrive around 8:45 a.m. to allow a few minutes for coffee and morning snacks and to sign in for the event. We plant in any weather, so please be sure to dress appropriately. We will provide gloves, tools, and all the guidance you will need.

Remember, 400,000 trees don’t get planted by themselves. Volunteers are vital to making it happen.  Please join us and kick off the New Year right!
