Become a Tree Team Ambassador

We’re hitting the summer outreach circuit to excite and educate our neighbors and greater community about trees. Does this sound right up your alley? We hope so!

Introducing: the Tree Team Ambassador! Ambassador volunteers are the face of Friends of Trees all across town. They attend events alongside staff or fellow Ambassadors to start positive conversations around the work of Friends of Trees and the benefits of trees to our greater community. Having a summer “street team” of FOT advocates is a long hoped for dream of ours and we’re excited that it’s becoming a reality this season.

These two Ambassadors are showing their personal brand of Tree Team style at a summer event!

The ideal volunteer for this role is outgoing, comfortable in fast-paced community settings, and is intrigued by the idea of engaging people in conversations about what trees can do for them and their community. It’s likely that Portland’s new Tree Code will makes its way into our conversations as well, which only makes things more exciting! We’ve scheduled a brief info session and training for the evening of Thursday, June 4th at our NE Portland office (map).

Following the training it would be great if Ambassadors could attended three outreach events alongside Friends of Trees staff, sometime June – September. Each event is typically 3-4 hours, so overall the time commitment post-training would be 9-12 hours.

If you’ve read this far and are thinking “Okay! How do I start?”, head on over to our Tree Team Ambassador Registration form to learn more about this role and responsibilities and to sign up to be a part of the team!
