Thanks to a generous Travel Scholarship donated by Bartlett Tree Experts, Friends of Trees’ Neighborhood Trees Specialists, Elizabeth Elbel and Susie Peterson, attended the Alliance for Community Trees’ (ACT) annual meeting in Pittsburgh, PA during the first week of November. ACT is a national nonprofit urban forestry organization. They organize this conference each year to bring together urban and community forestry leaders from around the nation. Presenters hailed from all regions of the country and topics ranged from innovative fundraising and partnership ideas to programs that have been developed to comfort communities by holding tree planting events in the wake of natural disasters.

It’s always inspirational to see what ideas other tree people are coming up with and implementing. If you ever have the opportunity we recommend you consider a future ACT Conference. You’ll learn so much while being reminded that tree people are some of the nicest you’ll ever know.
