Help care for trees this summer without digging or getting dirty! Friends of Trees is kicking off its popular Summer Inspector program this month, and we invite you to join us.

Summer Inspectors are given a neighborhood-based route of approximately 30 trees to visit twice over the course of the summer.  These are trees that were planted during the last planting season, between November and April.  The best part of the program is that you have no schedule—you figure out what works best for you!

No experience is needed.  We’ll train you how to care for and assess the health of these new trees, and we’ll even give you a coveted green, organic cotton “Tree Team” t-shirt to wear on your route! (We estimate each walking route to take three to four hours.)

The only requirement is that you attend one of our two scheduled trainings that run from 9 a.m. to 12 noon—breakfast included! Trainings present the big picture behind our program and your role in it, along with a brief tree biology lesson and detailed descriptions of what you’ll be looking for.  The sessions end with a short outing with local arborists to show you exactly what you’ll be doing this summer.

Choose one that works best for you:

Saturday, May 8 at Holy Redeemer School in North Portland (127 N. Rosa Parks Way)

Saturday, May 22 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Southeast Portland (3880 SE Brooklyn Street)

PLEASE CONTACT Andy Meeks at 503-282-8846 ext. 24 or [email protected] to register or to ask any questions you may have.
