BYOB to support Friends of Trees

By Andy Meeks

In celebration of Earth Month and Arbor Month, Whole Foods Market at 15th and Fremont in NE Portland has chosen Friends of Trees to be their bag donation charity for the entire month of April. We’re very excited to have been chosen from among many other worthy non-profits.

Every customer who brings their own bag will get a 10 cent credit per bag and has the option of receiving a credit on their total purchase, or, they can choose to donate it to us.

We’re hoping that everyone chooses us!

Bring your own bag, save paper, and help Friends of Trees!

On Saturday, April 12th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm, this Whole Foods store will be hosting a fun and interactive event called ‘What’s Your (Green) Mission’ to demonstrate their commitment to our community and the environment. Our very own Garry Oak will be there to greet customers and give tree hugs and there will also be other environmentally-minded and mission-driven organizations there. And don’t forget the tasty food samples and raffle prizes, too. Stop by to say hello to Garry – you might find him in the produce aisle. He’s kind of hard to miss!

Garry loves his bananas! (FoT file, Jan. 2011)
