Join Portland Fruit Tree Project (PFTP) in increasing the health and abundance of urban fruit trees. Become a Tree Care Team Leader or Tree Care Team Member!

PFTP is forming small teams of volunteers to care for fruit trees registered and harvested by PFTP. Each Tree Care Team will include one or two ‘Team Leaders’ with experience and skills in organic fruit tree care, who will guide the group. Each team will be responsible for a group of trees in its area and visit each tree once per season to complete the full spectrum of care throughout the year. This is a unique opportunity to develop strong skills in organic fruit tree care, meet new people, and improve the health and productivity of trees providing food to your community!

Members and leaders will participate in 10 three-hour work parties over an 11-month period (January-November 2012). Topics/tasks will include the following: winter pruning, young fruit tree training & care, spring pest & disease management, fruit thinning, summer pruning, fall clean-up/pest & disease assessment. Participants who attend at least eight sessions (with at least one session per topic) will receive a certificate of completion.
