Trees & planting scholarships in Portland & Vancouver

Friends of Trees invites homeowners in Vancouver, WA, and Portland, OR, to sign up for trees to plant with their neighbors this fall and winter. The cost for a tree in the 29 Vancouver neighborhoods where we’re planting this year is $50. The cost for a tree in the 55 Portland neighborhoods where we’re planting is $35 to $75.

If this is more than you can afford, please call 503-595-0212 to sign up for a scholarship. Or help others beautify their neighborhood by donating to the scholarship fund at FriendsofTrees.org/Donate. Just select “Planting Scholarship Fund” from the donation category drop-down menu.

Add your name at FriendsofTrees.org/BuyTrees if you’d like to order a tree. Each neighborhood has one tree planting a year, and sign-up deadlines are approximately five weeks before each planting event. Friends of Trees’ new tree selections and engaging web site make selecting trees easy and fun. Your $35 to $75 fee includes the price of the tree, delivery, hole digging, planting assistance, stakes, and follow-up maintenance checks. You’ll also be invited to join a neighborhood potluck after the planting.

In Vancouver, plantings are scheduled in the Airport Green, Arnada, Burnt Bridge Creek, Burton Ridge, Carter Park, Cascade Highlands, Cascade Southeast, Countryside Woods, Edgewood Park, Ellsworth Springs, First Place, Fisher’s Creek, Fisher’s Landing East, Forest Ridge, Fruit Valley, Hough, Image, Landover Sharmel, Lincoln, Marrion, Meadow Homes, North Image, Oakbrook, Ogden, Parkway East, Rose Village, Shumway, Vancouver Heights, and Wildwood neighborhoods.

In Portland, plantings are scheduled in the following neighborhoods: SE Portland—Brentwood-Darlington, Brooklyn, Buckman, Creston-Kenilworth, Eastmoreland, Foster-Powell, Hosford-Abernethy, Kerns, Laurelhurst, Montavilla, Mt. Scott-Arleta, Mt. Tabor, North Tabor, Reed, Richmond, Sellwood-Westmoreland, South Tabor, Sunnyside, and Woodstock; N-NE Portland—Alameda, Arbor Lodge, Beaumont-Wilshire, Boise, Cathedral Park, Concordia, Cully, Eliot, Grant Park, Hollywood, Humboldt, Irvington, Kenton, King, Madison South, Overlook, Piedmont, Portsmouth, Rose City Park, Roseway, Sabin, St. Johns, University Park, Vernon, and Woodlawn; East Portland—Argay, Centennial, Hazelwood, Lents, Mill Park, Parkrose, Parkrose Heights, Powellhurst-Gilbert, Russell, Sumner, and Wilkes.
