Another fun planting in East Portland

Planting trees in East Portland (Anne Downing)

On Saturday, March 12, we’ll add almost 100 new street and yard trees to the Argay, Parkrose, Parkrose Heights, Russell, Sumner, and Wilkes neighborhoods, which are clustered just east of the I-205 corridor. The planting will be staged at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church at 12505 NE Halsey Street (map). It’s sponsored by IKEA-Portland.

This is our second East Portland planting of the season. On January 29, almost 100 volunteers planted with us in the Centennial, Hazelwood, and Mill Park neighborhoods, including David Douglas and Parkrose High School students—and a fun time was had by all. We’d love for you to join us at the March 12 planting to help us continue greening East Portland!

As always, planting volunteers should arrive by 8:45 a.m. to sign in and be assigned to a planting crew. We’ll provide gloves, tools, and guidance. All we ask is that you dress appropriately for the weather. Breakfast snacks and coffee will help our planting crews fuel up beforehand, and lunch will be served to help refuel once we’re done.

We’d love your help, so come one, come all! Please don’t hesitate to contact Andrew Land at 503-282-8846 ext. 18 if you need any additional information.
