The City of Vancouver is looking for an AmeriCorps member to serve as Neighborhood Tree Coordinator (NTC) from September 1, 2011 to July 31, 2012.

The NTC will work with Vancouver Urban Forestry and its organizational partner Friends of Trees to expand outreach efforts in targeted neighborhoods, to coordinate tree-planting projects in those neighborhoods, and to ensure tree survival after planting.

The NTC will help develop an outreach strategy to inspire and engage local residents in a community tree-planting effort, educating residents about the benefits of trees and Vancouver’s declining tree canopy. The coordinator’s time will be divided as follows: 55% outreach and canvassing, 30% tree-planting coordination, and 15% tree monitoring and maintenance.

This is an AmeriCorps position. The individual filling the position will provide 1,700 hours of service over an 11-month period. The AmeriCorps web site provides a full job description and application instructions.

The deadline for submitting an application is June 30, interviews will be conducted in mid-July, and the service location is Vancouver, Washington.
