Thanks for helping us win a Governor’s Volunteer Award!

Friends of Trees is honored to receive a 2011 Governor’s Volunteer Award! We appreciate all of our outstanding volunteers and enjoyed celebrating with you at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, September 17. Below are photos from the picnic, which included a guest appearance by Wonder Woman.

Thanks to our volunteers, Friends of Trees had a record-breaking planting season last year. We look forward to breaking more records this coming season, which begins in October.

If you haven’t signed up already, this is a great time to add your name to the roster for our 2011 Green Space Initiative Crew Leader Training on November 12 and/or our Neighborhood Trees Crew Leader Trainings in Portland on November 5 and Vancouver on November 19. Crew Leaders guide planting volunteers at weekend events during the planting season.

You don’t have to be a Crew Leader to plant with us, though. Find a Saturday (or two or three) between October and April on our calendar and come on out! It’s best if you arrive by 8:45 am so you have time to register and eat some breakfast treats before the planting begins at 9:00 am.

Planting Season 2011-12 here we come!
