‘Gift of Green’ video features Portland researcher & Friends of Trees

Portland neighborhood (Geoffrey Donovan)

The video below describes the great range of research that U.S. Forest Service’s Geoffrey Donovan has conducted in Portland on the social, economic, and health benefits of city trees. Produced by Lorie Anne Acio and Rachelle Hacmac, the video is highlighted on the web site for the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Oregon.

In addition to scenes from Portland and interviews with Geoffrey Donovan, the video features Friends of Trees Program Director Brighton West and includes scenes from Friends of Trees’ plantings. If you plant with Friends of Trees, you may find yourself in the video!

Most of all, the video explains why it makes sense (and cents) to plant trees in your yard and planting strip.

Check out the affordable trees we’re offering now through our online store. Like the homeowners and volunteers in the video, you can experience the fun of planting with neighbors to make your neighborhood safer, greener, and healthier.
