Friends of Trees joins 1% for the Planet

By Andy Meeks

Friends of Trees is now a proud non-profit network partner with 1% for the Planet – an alliance of over 1,200 member companies in 48 countries that give one percent of revenues to environmental causes. This membership makes Friends of Trees eligible to receive donations from members within the business network, as well as counts us among a group of 3,600 non-profit partners worldwide, including our esteemed peers Casey Trees, Friends of the Urban Forest, Alliance for Community Trees, Tree People, Tree Utah, Million Trees NYC and Trees for the Future. You can find our online profile HERE to learn more.

1% for the Planet was started in 2002 by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard and Blue Ribbon Flies founder Craig Mathews. To date, the network has helped re-direct more than $100 million in contributions to their non-profit network partners. One of the requirements for businesses to be admitted to the network is that they pledge 1% of their annual sales each year to non-profit partners in the network. More than $20 million was donated in 2013 alone!
