The crew from Ascending the Giants published their latest photos last night from a February trip to Alsea, Ore.

On Highway 34, about halfway between Corvallis and the Pacific Ocean, the Alsea River area in the coastal range boasts some large Oregonian trees.

Some of the photos were taken by Freesolo LLC, while the others were captured by Will Koomjian.

Ascending the Giants is in charge of cataloging the largest trees in the state of Oregon, many of which are the largest of their species in the country.

Through their video production and stunning images, they also do a fair share of awareness and conservation education on behalf of large trees everywhere.

An excerpt from the Ascending the Giants Web site:

Champion trees are the largest and some of the oldest living specimens of their kind, and are ideal to showcase the complexity of the canopy environment.
