Enjoy sunshine, fresh air & friends

The sun returned just in time for Friends of Trees‘ Feb. 2 plantings! Our Saturday Green Space Initiative plantings were at Murray Hill in Beaverton and Tranquil City Park in Wilsonville. We also planted in the Piedmont and Woodlawn neighborhoods.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who planted with us on Jan. 26, too. You’ll find photos from our Green Space Initiative plantings below. On Jan. 26, more than 350 volunteers helped us plant trees in four neighborhoods. We’re grateful to Portland’s Bureau of Environmental Services for partnering with us on all of our neighborhood plantings in Portland. And we were excited to welcome City Commissioner Amanda Fritz and the energetic ESL students from David Douglas High School at our Hazelwood and Mill Park neighborhood planting.

On Jan. 26, 34 volunteers planted 700 native trees and shrubs at MacGregor Heights, and 19 volunteers became new GSI crew leaders at our mid-winter training at Brown’s Ferry Park in Tualatin. Our planting partners for the MacGregor Heights planting were East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, and Portland General Electric provided sponsorship support for the training. The photos above were taken at McGregor Heights, and the photos below were taken at the training in Tualatin.
