Great shade for a nice bike ride

By Whitney Dorer
As Friends of Trees strives to reach its highest street tree planting goal ever, we will use a new model for ‘treeing up’ a number of Neighborhood Greenways around Portland.
Specifically, Friends of Trees is offering free trees to homeowners on five Neighborhood Greenways in hopes of making them even more pleasant to ride, stroll and skate along. See our five newly scheduled plantings below:
Saturday, February 12: Clinton-Woodward Neighborhood Greenway (from SE 43rd Street to SE 75th Avenue)
Saturday, February 26: Everett-Davis Neighborhood Greenway (from NE 32nd Street to NE 71st Avenue)
Saturday, April 2: Tillamook-Grant Neighborhood Greenway (specific location TBD)
Saturday, April 16: Hancock-Tillamook Neighborhood Greenway (specific location TBD)
Saturday, April 23: North Portland Neighborhood Greenway (specific location TBD)
We would love your help planting in these Neighborhood Greenways! To find out more or to sign up to volunteer for a certain planting, contact Andy at AndyM [@] FriendsofTrees.org or Andrew at AndrewL [@] FriendsofTrees.org. These plantings will be perfect for volunteering with a bike as the trees will line the easy-to-navigate Neighborhood Greenway.
A note about Neighborhood Greenways: Neighborhood Greenways used to be called Bike Boulevards. They are collections of streets and trails that provide safe, pleasant and convenient routes for walking and riding a bicycle. You can tell if you are traveling on a Neighborhood Greenway when you see the bicycle symbol on the pavement directing you where to go. You can read more on the Neighborhood Greenways web site.
