Medium-sized, deciduous tree with a rounded crown and conspicuous thorns on newer growth. The foliage is a dark green with clusters of white flowers appearing in spring.
Prefers sun or part shade and moist to dry soil. Suckers arising from the roots should be removed as soon as they become noticeable.
