Characteristics:
Broadleaf evergreen tree, short trunk, round crown, thick branches.

Growing Conditions:
Sun. Prefers good drainage, tolerant of different soil types. Established trees drought resistant. Hardy to USDA Zone 7.

Uses:
The thick, corky bark is the cork of commerce, and in its native Mediterranean region, it is removed every 6-8 years.

Flowers:
Male and female flowers borne in separate catkins (monoecious) and are wind-pollinated.

Leaves:
