Prunus avium 'Lapins'
Lapins has large, dark purple fruit. Trees are self-fertile and semi-dwarf. Lapins is an easy to grow and very productive variety for the home gardener. (aka 13S-28-26) Van x Stella. Originally trialed as pollinators by commercial orchardists, and now becoming the replacement tree for Bing in much of the commercial cherry industry. Crack resistant. Heavy producer. Self-fertile.
Resists late frosts. Ripens late July. 400-600 chill hours. Zones 5-9.
Firm fruit as large as Bing. Excellent quality and rich flavor.
