Characteristics:
The red leaf variety of the American chokecherry. Known for straight trunk, full-round crown, bright red leaves, nicely distributed branching. The green leaves produced in the spring turn to dark-purple by midsummer.

Growing Conditions:
Shade tolerant but produces the best fruit in full sun. Suckers often. Tolerant of a range of soil types and is somewhat drought tolerant after establishment.

Uses:
The fruit can be processed to make jams and jellies.
