Are you part of a community group looking for a project?

Friends of Trees would like to invite you to help rake leaves for elderly residents between November 10 and 13. The Portland Leaf Harvest is encouraging individuals and groups to help with fall yard work. Last year, Home Depot volunteers partnered with Friends of Trees and Loaves & Fishes to rake for 30 homebound seniors.  This year we want to help enable other groups to do the same thing.

Don’t let a few leaves get between you and all the benefits that trees can bring!

The second annual Portland Leaf Harvest will take place November 10 through 13. Officially proclaimed “Portland Leaf Harvest Week” by Mayor Sam Adams, the harvest encourages community groups to gather leaves from the homes of people who aren’t able to harvest the leaves themselves.

As part of the Leaf Harvest, Friends of Trees launched a new Portland Leaf Harvest web site today, offering a one-stop resource to help people curb, mulch, bag, and compost their leaves.
