Starting tomorrow, Jack Daniel’s will be offering special edition bottles of whiskey that will benefit American Forests.

For $39.99 a bottle, purchasers can have several adult cocktails and know a tree is likely being planted somewhere.

A press release from Business Wire states the retail price but lacks precise information on what percentage of sales will go to American Forests.

According to the release:

Approximately 100,000 trees that will be planted from the sale of more than 100,000 bottles will sequester at least 33,000 tons of CO2 as they grow, which is the same as taking nearly 6,000 cars off the road for a year or conserving 3.3 million gallons of gasoline.

The ratio of bottles to trees seems a bit fuzzy, but at the very least, this is the best available partnership between a Tennessee distillery and a tree planting organization.

For the record, Friends of Trees does not condone the mixing of environmentally conscious American whiskey and the use of tree planting tools.
