America’s first or second favorite broadcast news anchorwoman planted a tree last week in New York.

Appearing in Madison Square Park in an effort to promote the “When Families Grieve” support group, Couric planted a tree with several young children and a few puppets dangling from her shoulders.

Couric appeared slightly haphazard in high heels when wielding a shovel.

Friends of Trees community plantings are open to all, even those in high heels, although it may not be the best idea, said Neighborhood Trees Manager Whitney Dorer.

“Truthfully, it’s probably not that safe,” said Dorer. “She might trip on something—or in the dirt, those heels will sink right in!”
