Pruning Leader

Are you curious about caring for city trees, and want to develop the art and skill of pruning? Pruning shade trees requires a bit of patience, and training. If you’re looking for a way to make a long-lasting impact on the lifespan, health, and safety of trees in our neighborhoods, this role is for you!

What’s the time commitment for this role?” 15-20 hours between now and June ’25, which includes: completing the online training, attending the Sat Sept 21st in-person training in Vancouver, and  volunteering at 3+ pruning events this season (each event is 3.5-4 hrs).  Pruning events are on Saturday mornings, Oct-June. You’ll be able to sign-up following the completion of your training.

Where will pruning events happen? Milwaukie (OR), Oregon City (OR), and Vancouver (WA) will be the locations for all pruning events in 24-25.

The online training will be available Sept 6th – 20th, and you can take it from the comfort of your own home.

The In-person training is Sat, Sept 21st, 8:45am-12pm (Vancouver, WA).  You’ll join FOT arborist staff and already trained Pruning Leaders to complete your training.

Both online and in-person sessions are required to become a Pruning Leader. Space limited.
