Friends of Trees would like to extend a great big “Thank You!” to REI for its continued support of our Green Space Initiative program in both Portland and Eugene. Seattle-based REI has long been a supporter of Friends of Trees, most recently making multiple grants in support of our work along the I-205 Multi-Use Path. With that project concluded, we’re excited to announce that REI has pledged $15,000 for our GSI plantings in Forest Park and other Portland-based green spaces. Additionally, REI has pledged $5,000 for our work in Eugene.

In 2012 alone, REI granted $3.9 million dollars to support 260 nonprofit organizations. The programs that were supported by REI engaged nearly 397,000 people in 2.8 million hours of volunteer work on public lands.

Friends of Trees is very proud to be one of these organizations, and we look forward to working with REI for many years to come. We were honored to present REI with our 2013 Business Leadership Award at this year’s May Leadership Awards Luncheon. Stay tuned for event dates and locations for your chance to come out and be a part of these amazing volunteer opportunities.
