Treehoo!, not to be confused with other ‘-hoo!’-suffixed Internet search engines, is calling itself the world’s first green search engine, using 50 percent of its net profit to plant trees worldwide.

—The Friends of Trees R&D staff is looking into the 250-foot floating Christmas tree in Brazil, taking suggestions for a suitable ‘planting’ site in Portland.

—One of our very own Neighborhood Coordinators is featured in a NPR piece about the trials and tribulations of selling eco-friendly real estate.

—A new report from the Sierra Club B.C. chapter says the old growth trees in the Canadian territory are threatened, reports the Vancouver Sun.

—Much closer to home, Oregon’s landmark Forest Practices Act is at risk of becoming a list of voluntary guidelines for the management of private forest lands, reports The Oregonian.

—Residents in La Grande are trying to raise about $600,000 to purchase and save trees on their beloved Mt. Emily, reports The Oregonian earlier this month.

—In Central Point, a local man will bequeath more than an acre of tree-filled land that will some day serve as a public arboretum, reports the Mail Tribune.

—Also in Oregon, the city of Albany is selling $100 commemorative trees to be planted in Legacy Forest, including an inscribed brick in the accompanying park, reports the Democrat Herald.
