Green Friendly Yards

The Green Friendly Yards Project is a unique initiative of the Energy Friendly Homes Program that pairs residential green infrastructure installations with home energy upgrades for qualifying low-income Portland homeowners. To make this possible, Friends of Trees is working together with Evergreen Energy Partners and professional landscape contractors with funding provided by the Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund.

Green Friendly Yards aims to sequester carbon, reduce energy use, manage stormwater, reduce the urban heat island effect, and improve community health and wellbeing outcomes. To achieve these goals, the project will plant trees, establish climate-adaptive plants, build rain gardens, remove unused pavement and more.

All applicants must meet specific qualification requirements and be participants of the Energy Friendly Homes Program.
