Minto Island Park (Salem)
February 24 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join Friends of Trees and the City of Salem for the second of this year’s three planting events at the newly opened Minto Island Conservation Area across the Minto Island Bridge! We will be planting native trees and shrubs along the new multi-use path connecting Riverfront Park with the greater Minto Brown Island Park. This event is partially funded with grants from Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and Meyer Memorial Trust.
Volunteer parking will be at Riverfront City Park. You’re welcome to park in the Carousel parking lot or the larger lot along Water Street. Either way there will be a short 5-10 min walk across the newly opened bridge to where we’ll be planting. Please arrive around 8:45am to be registered and assigned to a crew. The event will start promptly at 9:00am. We provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and guidance. Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes and get ready to have fun!
Looking to volunteer as a group? RSVPs are kindly requested for groups of more than 5 people – click HERE to do so. RSVPs are not required for individuals or groups of 4 or fewer — you can simply show up!
Are you under age 18 and planting without your parent/guardian? A signed youth waiver is required for you to volunteer. We kindly request youth 15 years and younger are accompanied by an adult.
