Characteristics: Small, deciduous tree with rounded, wide-spreading habit.

Growing Conditions: Requires full sun to partial shade, prefers moist, deep, acidic soils that are well-drained. Tree is fairly adaptable and requires little maintenance once established.

Uses: Showy flowers followed by fruit attractive to birds. Drought tolerant once established.

Flowers: Snow white, fragrant flowers bloom in clusters at ends of branches in June.
Leaves: 3-8 inches long. Thick, leathery, lustrous leaves. Shape varies from narrow-elliptical to oval. Yellow-green in fall.
Bark: Deeply grooved and brownish gray with lenticels.
Planting Strip Width: 4-5.5' with power lines, >6' with power lines

Native of China, Korea and Japan.
