Friends of Trees and its Neighborhood Trees program planted 175 street and yard trees in Vancouver Feb. 27.
Over 100 volunteers came to the multi-neighborhood planting, which was sponsored by Northwest Natural.

There are 14 Friends of Trees plantings remaining this season, from this Saturday through April 10.
As of Feb. 26, thanks to volunteers, donors, partners and sponsors, Friends of Trees has planted 11,310 trees and shrubs in the Portland Metropolitan area. That equates to over 386,000 trees and shrubs in 20 years!

Vancouver Urban Forestry has several upcoming events, including two Neighborhood Trees plantings with Friends of Trees, Feb. 27 and March 20.

On Tuesday, Vancouver Urban Forestry held another TreeTalk workshop, this time on ‘Hazard Tree Risk Assessment.’
Native trees here in the Pacific Northwest, like Bigleaf Maple, Douglas-fir, Western Redcedar and Oregon White Oak, among others, are designed to withstand wind.

It’s almost time for Friends of Trees to give thanks.
Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, marks the two-month mark for this year’s planting season. In two months and only seven full plantings, Friends of Trees planted 3,631 trees and shrubs.

Friends of Trees is proud to present its historic planting season!

–Metro announced it bought 20 acres of the upper Rock Creek Headwaters, according to The Oregonian.
The headwaters, which border Forest Park to the west, is part of the subwatershed boundary for the Tualatin River.

Sept. 29 to Oct. 17 is Tree Steward training with Portland Public Parks & Recreation
Seven session course covers general and advanced arbor care, tree biology, identification, planting and preservation. Once trained, neighborhood tree stewards work with PP&R staff on tree projects. Class is for ages 14 and up and costs $25.
