There is still time to volunteer, like the dozens of Portland residents who did this past Saturday at the Neighborhood Trees (NT) planting in Montavilla and Mt. Tabor.
March is the last full month of plantings, with 10 more Saturday plantings remaining.
No pre-registration is required, but remember to wear weather appropriate clothing [...]

Several Disney music, television and film stars planted trees at a Celebrating Family Volunteers event earlier this month at Disney World.
Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato, among other Disney troupe members, planted while wearing aprons and implementing yellow hand shovels that normally could be used making sand castles or cleaning an incredibly large kitty litter box.

Individual members gave us a great boost into the new year. Even in this down economy, more of our generous volunteers became contributing members, more contributing members renewed their support, and many new members found us for the first time through Willamette Week’s 2009 Give!Guide.

The Neighborhood Trees (NT) program plants large street and yard trees in various Portland-metro urban areas. With proper care, large stock trees have a great survivability rate and are able to quickly impact their environmental.

Yes, with prices ranging from $15 for a t-shirt and $12 for a coffee mug, now proud gift givers and receivers can tout their appreciation of trees, all while knowing their purchase is helping the environment.

Nearly 300 attendees celebrated the first 20 years of Friends of Trees history and toasted to continued success for the next seven generations, as noted by Executive Director Scott Fogarty.
