Leadership Awards Luncheon May 13, 2015
Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish recently presided over ceremonies at Friends of Trees’ Leadership Awards Luncheon. Our eighth annual gathering, held at Multnomah Athletic Club, overlooking the Timber’s playing field at Providence Park, is organized to publicly acknowledge FoT’s supporters and bestow our Community Partner Awards.
The Awards are an opportunity to shine the light on our supporters for their long-term commitment to the environmental health of our communities and their support of our efforts to plant trees together. Check out this year’s winners:
- Our great and forward looking municipal partner, the City of Wilsonville’s Natural Resources Department.
- One of our many business partners, Whole Foods Market was recognized for their efforts in supporting our work by donating over $21,000 this year plus food and employees to help get trees in the ground. They have supported Friends of Trees since 2002.
- Portland City Commissioner, Amanda Fritz was presented with an award for her long term support of our mission.
Along with our Community Partner Award winners, FoT’s Executive Director, Scott Fogarty took the occasion to thank employees and contributors, Mary Harrell and Logan Lauvray for their years of dedication, effort and creativity that have helped shape and build the organization during their tenure. Because Friends of Trees would not exist without the effort of volunteers, Scott also recognized from the podium our Volunteer of the Year, Tricia Sears. Besides being a tireless organizer, tree enthusiast and wellspring of information, Tricia ties to FoT grow deeper – she and her partner met at a planting.
While it’s only once a year we don our dress up clothes and gather to publicly honor people and organizations, there isn’t a day that day goes by that we aren’t grateful to all the people who are improving our air quality, solving water runoff issues and improving the environment one tree at a time.
