Are your fingernails looking a little too clean as you type? Fear not—tree-planting season is upon us! Help Friends of Trees kick off its 25th planting season October 4 by getting your hands on a few of the million trees that will be planted in the Tualatin River basin this fall and winter as part of the Tree for All campaign.

Jackson Bottom Wetland planting
Saturday, October 4,  8:45 a.m. – 1 p.m.
2600 SW Hillsboro Highway, Hillsboro, OR 97213 (map)

Join us at Jackson Bottom wetlands to plant trees and native shrubs and maybe even view herons, otters or beavers that make their home in this tranquil, 650-acre sanctuary. Hillsboro’s mayor, Jerry Willey, will be on hand to join in the fun. This planting is generously sponsored by Epson Portland.

The event kicks off Friends of Trees’ 25th planting season, with more than 80 planting events in neighborhoods and green spaces across the region. View the planting calendar and join us!

We’re also launching the second decade of Tree for All, the community planting challenge in the Tualatin River basin.

To date, more than 4 million trees have been planted along the Tualatin River and its tributaries. The goal is to plant another million this year! Trees filter pollutants along waterways, absorb storm water, cool streams, and save taxpayers from having to foot the bill for costly water chilling plants.

What does a million trees look like? To put it into perspective, that’s about four times the number of trees lining all of the streets in Portland.

And planting a million trees is a huge task! That’s why Tree for All unites a community partnership including Clean Water Services, cities, nonprofits like SOLVE and Friends of Trees, farmers, landowners, and thousands of volunteers like you who are joining hands (and shovels) to plant. We hope to see you there!
