On March 31, Hollywood Theatre will screen, Taking Root, a documentary about Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement. Kenyan born, educated in the US and Nairobi, Dr. Maathai was the first environmental worker to win a Nobel Prize, besting Al Gore by 3 years.
FOT has been inspired by the work of the Green Belt Movement – the backbone of their work focuses on planting trees. The organization has planted over 50 million trees to date.
FOT is equally inspired by the generosity of Hollywood Theatre, who will be donating half the proceeds of the screening to help us plant more trees.
